HBSS w/o Ca++ & Mg++, 500mL

STEMCELL Technologies supplies a modified Hanks' balanced salt solution (HBSS) formulated without calcium and magnesium. The product is intended for diluting, washing, irrigating, or transporting cells and tissue cultures, and provides a buffering system to maintain physiological pH range and osmotic balance of culture media. It supplies cells with water, essential inorganic ions, and a carbohydrate energy source, and is supplied as a clear, red-coloured liquid.

The composition includes inorganic salts and other components at the following concentrations: potassium chloride (0.4 g/L), potassium phosphate monobasic anhydrous (0.06 g/L), sodium chloride (8 g/L), sodium phosphate dibasic·7H2O anhydrous (0.09 g/L), D-glucose (1 g/L), Phenol Red·Na (0.011 g/L), and sodium bicarbonate (0.35 g/L). The product contains sodium bicarbonate and phenol red, but does not contain calcium, magnesium, or antibiotics; if antibiotics are added, the product should be used within 1 week.

The product is not classified as a hazardous substance or mixture under the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) or the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. It should be stored at 15 - 25°C and remains stable until the expiry date printed on the label.
