This lyophilized antigen preparation from Antibodies.com provides Glutamate Oxaloacetate Transaminase (GOT), also known as Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), at 5 kU of enzymatic activity. GOT/AST (EC 2.6.1.1) is a pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent enzyme catalyzing the reversible transamination between L-aspartate and 2-oxoglutarate to form oxaloacetate and L-glutamate. In mammals the enzyme is expressed as cytoplasmic (c-AST) and mitochondrial (m-AST) isoforms distributed across liver, cardiac, and skeletal muscle tissues.
The antigen supports immunoassay calibration, antibody generation, and clinical chemistry research where AST serves as a biomarker for hepatocellular injury, myocardial damage, and skeletal muscle pathology. Applications include use as an immunogen for raising polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies, incorporation as a coating antigen or standard in ELISA and other binding assays, and deployment as a control in enzyme activity studies.
Each vial is supplied in lyophilized format. The dried preparation should be kept dry and refrigerated; for extended stability, frozen storage at -20 °C is recommended, and reconstituted aliquots should be frozen to limit freeze-thaw cycles.
This preparation is intended for research use only and is not approved for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
