Prepared from EBV-infected cell cultures, this liquid antigen extract from Antibodies.com delivers a complex mixture of viral structural and non-structural proteins useful for serological assay development. The Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) Extract Antigen contains immunoreactive components from the EBNA, VCA, and EA antigen families, which are commonly targeted in clinical diagnostics for infectious mononucleosis and EBV-associated malignancies.

Supplied as a 1 ml liquid formulation, the preparation supports ELISA and Western Blot (WB) workflows. In ELISA, the extract can be coated directly onto microplate wells to capture anti-EBV antibodies in patient samples. In Western Blot applications, the lysate provides a source of resolved viral polypeptides for confirmatory testing and characterization of antibody reactivity patterns against individual EBV proteins.

Researchers studying EBV-associated diseases, including Burkitt's lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder, and Hodgkin's lymphoma, routinely employ such extract antigens to standardize assay performance, validate antibody detection reagents, and investigate humoral immune responses across different patient cohorts. The liquid format allows direct dilution into appropriate coating or running buffers without prior reconstitution.

For optimal stability, aliquot the antigen upon receipt to minimize freeze-thaw cycles, and store at -80 °C. Repeated freeze-thaw events can degrade viral protein integrity and reduce immunoreactivity in downstream assays. Protect from light and handle using standard biosafety practices appropriate for a risk group 2 biological agent.
