Purified to greater than 98 percent by SDS-PAGE analysis, this 10 µg liquid-format antigen is supplied by Antibodies.com as a preparation of Eosinophil Peroxidase (EPO), the major heme-containing enzyme stored within the crystalloid granules of eosinophilic granulocytes. EPO catalyzes the oxidation of halides such as bromide, chloride, and thiocyanate into reactive species that participate in host defense against parasitic helminths and, when dysregulated, drive the tissue injury that characterizes allergic inflammation. Researchers use this antigen as an immunogen for polyclonal and monoclonal antibody generation in rabbits, goats, and mice, and as a capture or standard protein in ELISA, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry workflows that monitor eosinophil activation.
