The Major Outer Membrane Protein (MOMP) of Chlamydia trachomatis is the immunodominant surface antigen used across infectious disease research on this obligate intracellular bacterium. This preparation from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 1 mg liquid vial intended as a positive control antigen, immunogen for polyclonal or monoclonal antibody production, or coating reagent in immunoassay development.

MOMP constitutes the dominant outer membrane protein of the chlamydial elementary body and presents the species- and serovar-specific epitopes that distinguish the recognized serovars linked with trachoma and urogenital infection. Its conserved transmembrane beta-barrel fold and abundant surface exposure make it a standard target for epitope mapping studies, serology panel validation, and recombinant vaccine design work in research settings.

For handling, aliquot the liquid formulation upon arrival to limit freeze-thaw cycles; short-term working stocks can be kept refrigerated at 4 degrees C, with long-term storage at -20 degrees C or colder recommended to preserve native conformation and immunoreactivity. Each vial is supplied for research use only and is not cleared for diagnostic, prophylactic, or therapeutic use in humans.
