Buffer G2 (260/250)

A lysis buffer from QIAGEN designed for use with Genomic-Tip and EZ1 genomic DNA procedures. The reagent supports cell lysis and nucleic acid release as a foundational step in molecular biology and genomic workflows, and is usually combined with Proteinase K or QIAGEN Protease for efficient lysis. It is a component of QIAGEN Blood & Cell Culture DNA Kits and is also provided with several other kits, including those for automation on the EZ1 Advanced instrument.

The formulation consists of 800 mM guanidine hydrochloride; 30 mM Tris•Cl, pH 8.0; 30 mM EDTA, pH 8.0; 5% Tween 20; and 0.5% Triton X-100. Because guanidine hydrochloride in the sample-preparation waste can form highly reactive compounds when combined with bleach, bleach or acidic solutions should not be added directly to the waste. Potentially biohazardous solutions should always be disposed of in accordance with the institution's waste-disposal guidelines, and local regulations should be followed for biohazard disposal.
