Buffer ASL (4 x 140 ml)

The QIAGEN Buffer ASL is a stool lysis buffer designed for the pre-treatment of human stool samples. It supports lysis and solubilization of samples and can be used prior to subsequent manual or automated extraction of nucleic acids. The product is intended for laboratory use, and each lot is tested against predetermined specifications as part of QIAGEN's ISO-certified Quality Management System.

The manufacturer notes that the lysis and binding buffers used in QIAamp, DNeasy, and RNeasy kits contain chaotropic agents. Users are cautioned not to add bleach or acidic solutions directly to the sample-preparation waste, as guanidine hydrochloride can form highly reactive compounds when combined with bleach. Potentially biohazardous solutions should always be disposed of in accordance with the user's institution's waste-disposal guidelines and local regulations.

When working with the reagent, appropriate personal protective equipment — including a suitable lab coat, disposable gloves, and protective goggles — should be worn. Used and unused product should be discarded in compliance with local and national regulations, and specimens and samples should be treated as potentially infectious.
