QIAxcel RNA QC Kit v2.0 (1200)

QIAGEN's capillary gel electrophoresis platform offers a kit designed for quality control of total RNA and cRNA. The kit contains an RNA Quality Control Cartridge, Buffers, Mineral Oil, QX Intensity Calibration Marker, QX RNA Alignment Marker, QX RNA Size Marker (200–6000 nt), QX RNA Denaturation Buffer, and 12-Tube Strips. Used with the QIAxcel system and the CM-RNA method, samples are processed in batches of 12, with results viewable in both gel image and electropherogram formats.

The kit supports RNA integrity assessment through 28S/18S rRNA ratio determination and resolves small RNA species including 18S, 28S, and 5S/5.8S rRNA. Published application data using Schizosaccharomyces pombe total RNA reported 28S/18S rRNA ratios of 1.48–1.67, indicating high-quality RNA. The system delivers results in approximately 12 minutes for 12 samples, with a limit of detection of 5 ng/µL. Sample preparation mixes a 1 µl RNA aliquot with 1 µl denaturing buffer, heats at 70°C for 2 minutes, and adjusts to 10 µl with QX RNA Dilution Buffer.

For microarray workflows, the kit enables quality control of unlabeled cRNA prior to fluorescent labeling, supporting size distribution analysis of products concentrated in the 500–2000 bp range.
