Sheep Interleukin 6 ELISA Kit

Manufactured by Antibodies.com, this Sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of sheep Interleukin 6 (IL-6) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates or other biological fluids. The assay employs the sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique, using an antibody specific for IL-6 pre-coated onto a pre-coated microplate platform configured as 12 x 8 well strips.

Standards and test samples are added to the wells where IL-6 is bound by the immobilized antibody. After incubation and washing, a Biotinylated Anti-IL-6 Antibody is added, followed by an HRP-Avidin conjugate. TMB substrate solution is then used to visualise the HRP enzymatic reaction, producing a blue-coloured product that changes to yellow upon addition of acidic stop solution. The concentration of IL-6 is calculated by reading the O.D. absorbance at 450 nm in a colorimetric microplate reader and referring to the standard curve. Total assay time is reported as 4h 30m.

The kit has a product range of 15.6–1000 pg/ml and a sensitivity of <6.8 pg/ml. Kit components should be stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed and the kit should not be used past its expiration date. Recovery values in spiked samples (n=5 per type) are reported as: serum range 80%–102% (average 91%), EDTA plasma range 81%–100% (average 90%), and heparin plasma range 80%–89% (average 84%). Reported linearity upon dilution from 1:2 to 1:16 spans serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma, with the kit being suitable for serum, plasma, cell lysates, tissue homogenates and cell culture supernates.
