Rat Metallothionein 1 ELISA Kit

From Antibodies.com, this sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay is intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of rat Metallothionein in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. The kit is reactive with rat samples and runs as a quantitative colorimetric sandwich ELISA on a pre-coated microplate platform.

An antibody specific for Metallothionein is immobilised on the plate, and standards or test samples are added so that target Metallothionein is captured in each well. After washing, a Biotinylated Anti-Metallothionein Antibody is added, followed by an HRP-Avidin conjugate. TMB substrate is then used to visualise the HRP enzymatic reaction, producing a blue colour that changes to yellow upon addition of acidic stop solution. Absorbance is read at 450 nm in a colorimetric microplate reader and the Metallothionein concentration is calculated by reference to the standard curve. The plate is supplied as 12 x 8 well strips.

The assay range is 31.2-2000 pg/ml with a sensitivity of <12.6 pg/ml, and the total assay time is 4 hours 30 minutes. Spike-and-recovery performance has been reported for serum (range 80-102%, average 91%), EDTA plasma (range 81-100%, average 90%) and heparin plasma (range 80-89%, average 84%). Dilution linearity has been assessed at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 across serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma samples. Kit components are stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed and the kit should not be used past its expiration date.
