From Antibodies.com, this Rat Interleukin 2 ELISA Kit is a sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (sELISA) designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of rat IL-2 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates or other biological fluids. The kit employs a pre-coated 96-well microplate arranged as 12 x 8 well strips and is read at 450 nm on a colorimetric microplate reader.

The assay has a product range of 15.6-1000 pg/ml and a sensitivity of <6.0 pg/ml, with a total assay time of 4 hours 30 minutes. The quantitative sandwich immunoassay technique uses an antibody specific for IL-2 pre-coated onto the plate, with detection achieved using a Biotinylated Anti-IL-2 Antibody, an HRP-Avidin conjugate, and a TMB substrate solution. The density of the resulting yellow colour is proportional to the amount of IL-2 captured, and concentration is calculated by reading the O.D. absorbance at 450 nm and referring to the standard curve.

The kit is suitable for serum, plasma, cell lysates, tissue homogenates and cell culture supernates. Reported recovery ranges across n=5 samples are 80%-102% (average 91%) for serum, 81%-100% (average 90%) for EDTA plasma, and 80%-89% (average 84%) for heparin plasma.
