Rat Interleukin 1 Receptor Antagonist ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of rat IL-1RA in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. From Antibodies.com, the assay uses a 96-well microplate pre-coated with an antibody specific for IL-1RA. Standards and samples are added to the wells, where IL-1RA binds to the immobilised capture antibody, followed by incubation with a biotinylated anti-IL-1RA detection antibody. An HRP-avidin conjugate is then added, and TMB substrate is used to produce a blue colour that turns yellow upon addition of stop solution. The intensity of yellow colour is proportional to the amount of IL-1RA captured in each well, measured as absorbance at 450 nm.

The kit reports a sensitivity of 12.1 pg/ml and a measurable range of 31.2-2000 pg/ml. Total assay time is approximately 4 hours 30 minutes, with detection performed on a colorimetric microplate reader. Kit components should be stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed in the protocol, and the kit should not be used past its expiration date.

Validated recovery data are provided for serum (average 91%), EDTA plasma (average 90%) and heparin plasma (average 84%), with reported linearity across dilution factors up to 1:16 for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma sample types.
