Rat Insulin ELISA kit

A sandwich ELISA from Antibodies.com designed for the quantitative in vitro determination of rat insulin in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, and other biological fluids. The manufacturer states a sensitivity of < 5 uIU/ml and an assay range of 0-140 uIU/ml. The assay runs in 4 hours on a pre-coated microplate with colorimetric detection read at 450 nm. Standards and samples are added to the wells, where insulin binds to the immobilized capture antibody. A biotinylated detection antibody specific for insulin is then added to form a sandwich complex, followed by incubation with HRP-Streptavidin conjugate and TMB substrate, producing a blue colour that turns yellow upon addition of stop solution. The intensity of the yellow product is directly proportional to the insulin concentration in each well. The kit is reported to be specific for insulin with no cross-reactivity with other analogs or variants. Kit components are shipped at +4°C and stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed in the protocol manual.
