Rat Galectin 8 ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA kit from Antibodies.com designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of rat Galectin 8/Gal-8. The assay is suitable for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, with reactivity confirmed for rat samples.

The kit employs the sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique on a pre-coated 96-well microplate (12 x 8 well strips). Standards and samples are added to wells where Galectin 8/Gal-8 is captured by an immobilised antibody, followed by incubation with a biotinylated anti-Galectin 8/Gal-8 antibody and HRP-avidin conjugate. TMB substrate produces a blue product that turns yellow upon addition of stop solution; absorbance is read at 450 nm in a colorimetric microplate reader. Total assay time is 4h 30m.

Manufacturer-reported performance: product range 0.156–10 ng/ml and sensitivity <0.028 ng/ml. Recovery in serum (n=5) was 80–102% (average 91%), in EDTA plasma (n=5) 81–100% (average 90%), and in heparin plasma (n=5) 80–89% (average 84%). Dilution linearity is reported at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 for each matrix. Kit components are stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed and should not be used past the expiration date.
