The assay employs a pre-coated 96-well microplate (12 x 8 well strips), a biotinylated detection antibody, HRP-avidin and TMB substrate, with absorbance read at 450 nm on a colorimetric microplate reader.

Sensitivity is <0.054 ng/ml and the working assay range is 0.156–10 ng/ml, with a total assay time of 4 hours 30 minutes. Reported average recovery values are 91% for serum (range 80%–102%), 91% for EDTA plasma (range 81%–101%) and 84% for heparin plasma (range 80%–89%).
