Rat Defensin Beta 1 ELISA Kit

This Antibodies.com sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of rat beta Defensin 1 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. The assay uses a 96-well microtiter plate pre-coated with an antibody specific for beta Defensin 1, into which standards and test samples are added.

Following incubation and washing, captured beta Defensin 1 is bound by a biotinylated anti-beta Defensin 1 antibody and then detected with an HRP-Avidin conjugate. TMB substrate is added to produce a blue colour that turns yellow upon addition of the acidic stop solution; absorbance is read at 450 nm in a colorimetric microplate reader and the beta Defensin 1 concentration is calculated by reference to a standard curve. The pre-coated plate is supplied as 12 x 8 well strips and the assay takes approximately 4 hours 30 minutes.

The kit reports a sensitivity of <0.27 ng/ml and a measuring range of 0.781-50 ng/ml. Reported spike-and-recovery averages are 91% for serum, 89% for EDTA plasma and 90% for heparin plasma. Storage instructions call for kit components to be held at +4°C or -20°C as indicated, and the kit should not be used past its expiration date.
