Rat Cardiotrophin 1 ELISA Kit

From Antibodies.com comes a sandwich ELISA designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of rat cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. The assay uses a pre-coated microplate with colorimetric detection read on a standard microplate reader, and is classified as a quantitative sandwich ELISA with reactivity specific to rat.

Using the sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique, an antibody specific for CT-1 is pre-coated onto the microtiter plate. Standards and samples are added and the bound CT-1 is detected with a biotinylated anti-CT-1 antibody followed by HRP-avidin. The reaction is visualised with TMB substrate, producing a blue product that turns yellow after addition of acidic stop solution, with the intensity of yellow proportional to the amount of CT-1 captured in each well. Absorbance is read at 450 nm and the CT-1 concentration calculated by reference to the standard curve. Total assay time is 4h 30m.

Quoted specifications include a sensitivity of 5.3 pg/ml (also given elsewhere as <5.3 pg/ml) and an assay range of 15.6-1000 pg/ml. Reported mean recovery in neat serum was 91% (range 80%-102%, n=5), in EDTA plasma 90% (81%-100%, n=5), and in heparin plasma 84% (80%-89%, n=5). Dilution linearity data are also supplied across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma. Kit components should be stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed and not used past the stated expiration date.
