Rat Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor ELISA Kit

From Antibodies.com, this sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (sELISA) is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of rat Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates or other biological fluids. The kit uses a pre-coated microplate and a biotinylated anti-BDNF detection antibody with HRP-avidin and TMB substrate, producing a blue product that turns yellow on addition of acidic stop solution. The colour is read at 450 nm in a colorimetric microplate reader and the BDNF concentration is calculated by reference to a standard curve.

The assay has a quantitative range of 0.156–10 ng/ml and a sensitivity of <0.059 ng/ml, with a total assay time of 4h 30m. Sample recovery has been validated for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma (n=5), with overall mean recoveries of 91% for serum, 90% for EDTA plasma and 84% for heparin plasma across undiluted samples.
