Rat Apelin ELISA Kit

Manufactured for Antibodies.com, this competitive Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (cELISA) enables the in vitro quantitative determination of rat Apelin in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay employs a pre-coated microtiter plate where Apelin present in samples or standards competes with immobilized antigen for binding sites on a Biotinylated Anti-Apelin Antibody. Unbound antibody is removed by washing, and an HRP-Avidin conjugate is added. TMB substrate produces a blue colour that changes to yellow upon addition of acidic stop solution, with the intensity of yellow inversely proportional to the Apelin concentration in the sample.

Apelin levels are quantified by measuring O.D. absorbance at 450 nm against a standard curve. The kit has a reported sensitivity of <5.62 pg/ml and a measuring range of 15.6–1000 pg/ml. Total assay time is 2h 30m. Reported recovery ranges are 80–102% for serum, 81–100% for EDTA plasma, and 80–89% for heparin plasma. Kit components are stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed, and the kit should not be used past its expiration date.
