This sandwich ELISA kit from Antibodies.com is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of porcine Myostatin in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates or other biological fluids. The assay employs the sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique, using a 96-well microtitre plate pre-coated with an antibody specific for Myostatin. Standards and samples are added to the wells, and following incubation and washing, a Biotinylated Anti-Myostatin Antibody and an HRP-Avidin conjugate are added sequentially. A TMB substrate is then used to visualise the HRP enzymatic reaction, producing a blue product that turns yellow upon addition of acidic stop solution; the density of yellow is proportional to the amount of Myostatin captured in each well. Concentration is calculated by reading the O.D. absorbance at 450 nm in a colorimetric microplate reader and referring to the standard curve.

Sensitivity is reported at <0.42 ng/ml with an assay range of 1.25–80 ng/ml. Total assay time is approximately 4 hours 30 minutes. Kit components are stored at +4°C or −20°C as directed and should not be used past the expiration date. Sample recovery in serum is 80–102%, in EDTA plasma 81–100%, and in heparin plasma 80–89%. Dilution linearity has been demonstrated across serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16, with recoveries ranging from 74% to 108% depending on sample type and dilution.
