The assay uses a 96-well microtiter plate pre-coated with a specific antibody, with bound H-FABP detected using a Biotinylated Anti-H-FABP Antibody and an HRP-Avidin conjugate. Signal is developed with TMB substrate solution and read at 450 nm in a colorimetric microplate reader.

Quoted manufacturer specifications include an assay range of 0.781-50 ng/ml, a sensitivity of <0.27 ng/ml and a total assay time of 4h 30m.
