Porcine Epidermal Growth Factor ELISA Kit

From Antibodies.com, this in vitro sandwich ELISA kit enables quantitative determination of porcine Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The 96-well microplate is pre-coated with an antibody specific for EGF; standards and samples are added so that EGF is captured by the immobilised antibody, then detected using a biotinylated anti-EGF antibody followed by an HRP-avidin conjugate. TMB substrate produces a blue colour that turns yellow on addition of the acidic stop solution, and the EGF concentration is calculated from the absorbance at 450 nm read against the standard curve.

The assay covers a product range of 15.6–1000 pg/ml with a sensitivity of <6.2 pg/ml, and the full protocol can be carried out in 4 hours 30 minutes on a colorimetric microplate reader. Reported average spike-and-recovery values are 91% for serum (range 80–102%, n = 5), 90% for EDTA plasma (range 81–99%, n = 5) and 84% for heparin plasma (range 80–89%, n = 5). Dilution linearity has been demonstrated from 1:2 through 1:16 across serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma samples.
