From Antibodies.com, this sandwich ELISA is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of mouse Pulmonary Surfactant-Associated Protein C (SFTPC) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, and other biological fluids. The protein is also known by synonyms including SP-C, SFTP2 and Surfactant protein C.

The assay employs a pre-coated microplate to which standards and samples are added. Following incubation and washing, a biotinylated detection antibody is introduced, then HRP-Streptavidin conjugate and TMB substrate. The enzymatic reaction produces a blue product that turns yellow upon addition of stop solution; absorbance is read at 450 nm. The kit has a stated range of 0.391–25 ng/mL and a sensitivity of <0.234 ng/mL, with a total assay time of 4 hours.

Recovery in undiluted samples ranged from 93–105% in serum, 86–103% in EDTA plasma, and 88–101% in heparin plasma, with corresponding averages of 96%, 93% and 95%. Validated sample dilutions include healthy serum (1:2) and healthy plasma (1:2). The antibody pair is specific for Pulmonary Surfactant-Associated Protein C, with no reported cross-reactivity with other analogs or variants. Kit components are shipped at +4°C and stored at +4°C or −20°C as instructed; users are advised to avoid freeze/thaw cycles and not to use the kit past its expiration date.
