The assay is run on a pre-coated 96-well microplate and follows a standard sandwich workflow: standards and samples are added to antibody-coated wells, bound IRS2 is detected with a biotinylated anti-IRS2 antibody, and HRP-Avidin with TMB substrate produces a colour change read at 450 nm in a colorimetric microplate reader.

The kit has a sensitivity of <0.056 ng/ml and a quantitative range of 0.156-10 ng/ml, with a total assay time of 4 hours 30 minutes. Sample recovery has been characterised for serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16.
