The assay is run on a pre-coated 96-well microplate arranged as 12 x 8 well strips and uses a biotinylated anti-EPF detection antibody with HRP-avidin and TMB substrate; the enzymatic reaction is stopped with an acidic stop solution and read at 450 nm on a colorimetric microplate reader, with the resulting yellow colour intensity proportional to the amount of EPF captured in each well.

The quantitative sandwich ELISA has a working range of 1.56-100 ng/ml and a sensitivity of 0.65 ng/ml, with a total assay time of 4 hours 30 minutes.
