Reported sensitivity is <0.051 ng/ml, with an assay range of 0.156-10 ng/ml. Recovery has been evaluated in serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16. Average recovery values are 91% for serum (range 80-102%), 90% for EDTA plasma (range 81-100%), and 84% for heparin plasma (range 80-89%).

The assay employs a biotinylated anti-DAP Kinase 1 detection antibody followed by HRP-avidin and TMB substrate; the resulting colour intensity is proportional to analyte concentration.
