Mouse Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor ELISA Kit

This sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (sELISA) kit from Antibodies.com enables the in vitro quantitative determination of mouse Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor (CNTF) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates or other biological fluids. The assay has mouse reactivity and is intended to be read on a colorimetric microplate reader.

The 96-well microtiter plate is pre-coated with an antibody specific for CNTF. Standards and test samples are added to the wells and any CNTF present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After washing, a Biotinylated Anti-CNTF Antibody is added, followed by an HRP-Avidin conjugate and TMB substrate solution. The resulting HRP enzymatic reaction produces a blue-coloured product that changes to yellow upon addition of acidic stop solution; the intensity of the yellow colour is proportional to the amount of CNTF captured, and the concentration is calculated from the O.D. absorbance at 450 nm. Manufacturer-stated performance characteristics include a measuring range of 31.2–2000 pg/ml, a sensitivity of 12.76 pg/ml, and a total assay time of 4 hours 30 minutes. Reported recovery values are 80%–102% (average 91%) in serum, 81%–100% (average 90%) in EDTA plasma, and 80%–89% (average 84%) in heparin plasma, each across n=5 samples. Kit components are stored at +4°C or –20°C as instructed and the kit should not be used past its expiration date.
