Human Very Low Density Lipoprotein ELISA Kit

This sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) from Antibodies.com is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of human Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) in serum, plasma, or other biological fluids. The assay uses a pre-coated 96-well microplate, organised as 12 x 8 well strips, with an antibody specific for VLDL immobilised on the wells.

Standards and test samples are added to the wells, where VLDL present in each sample is captured by the immobilised antibody. After washing, a Biotinylated Anti-VLDL Antibody binds the captured VLDL, followed by addition of an HRP-Avidin conjugate. Following a further incubation and washing step, TMB substrate solution is added; the resulting blue product turns yellow upon addition of the acidic stop solution. The absorbance is read at 450 nm in a colorimetric microplate reader, and the VLDL concentration is calculated by reference to a standard curve.

The reported assay range is 46.9–3000 pg/ml with a sensitivity of <19.55 pg/ml, and the total assay time is 4h 30m. Average recovery values cited are 91% for serum (range 80%–102%, n=5), 90% for EDTA plasma (range 81%–100%, n=5), and 84% for heparin plasma (range 80%–89%, n=5). Kit components should be stored at +4°C or −20°C as instructed and the kit should not be used past the expiration date.
