Human Sex Hormone Binding Globulin ELISA Kit

The Antibodies.com Human Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) ELISA Kit is a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (sELISA) designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of human SHBG in serum, plasma, or other biological fluids. SHBG is also known by the synonyms ABP, SBP, Sex hormone-binding globulin, Sex steroid-binding protein, TeBG, Testis-specific androgen-binding protein, Testosterone-estradiol-binding globulin, and Testosterone-estrogen-binding globulin.

The assay employs a pre-coated 96-well microtiter plate, where standards and samples are added and SHBG is captured by the immobilized antibody. Following incubation and washing, a Biotinylated Anti-SHBG Antibody binds the captured SHBG, then HRP-Avidin conjugate is added. TMB substrate produces a blue colour that turns yellow after addition of acidic stop solution. The absorbance is read at 450 nm on a colorimetric microplate reader, and SHBG concentration is calculated by reference to a standard curve. The assay is quantitative and colorimetric, with a reported assay time of 4 hours 30 minutes.

Reported performance includes an assay range of 62.5-4000 pg/ml and a sensitivity of 27.8 pg/ml. Recovery ranges were 80-102% in serum (average 91%), 81-100% in EDTA plasma (average 90%), and 80-89% in heparin plasma (average 84%). Dilution linearity was demonstrated across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 dilutions in serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma. Kit components are stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed, and the kit is suitable for use with serum and plasma.
