The assay employs a 96-well microtiter plate pre-coated with an antibody specific for RNASE6, combined with a biotinylated anti-RNASE6 detection antibody and an HRP-Avidin conjugate. Signal is visualised using TMB substrate, producing a blue colour that turns yellow on addition of stop solution, and is read as optical density at 450 nm on a colorimetric microplate reader.

Reported performance includes an assay range of 0.156-10 ng/ml and a sensitivity of 0.064 ng/ml, with a total assay time of 4h 30m. Kit components are stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed, and the product is intended for research use only. Sample recovery data from the manufacturer show average values of 91% in serum (range 80-102%), 91% in EDTA plasma (range 81-101%), and 84% in heparin plasma (range 80-89%).
