Human L1-Cell Adhesion Molecule ELISA Kit

From Antibodies.com, this sandwich ELISA kit enables the in vitro quantitative determination of human L1 Cell Adhesion Molecule (L1CAM) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, and other biological fluids. The assay is intended for human samples and runs on a pre-coated microplate arranged as 12 x 8 well strips, with results read on a colorimetric microplate reader at 450 nm.

The procedure uses an antibody specific for L1CAM pre-coated onto the wells. Standards and samples are added, the wells are washed, and a Biotinylated Anti-L1CAM Antibody is applied followed by an HRP-Avidin conjugate. TMB substrate is used to visualise the reaction, producing a blue product that turns yellow after addition of the stop solution; the intensity of yellow is proportional to the L1CAM concentration, calculated against a standard curve. Total assay time is 4h 30m, and kit components are stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed. The kit should not be used past its expiration date.

Reported performance figures from the manufacturer include a sensitivity of <32.15 pg/ml and an assay range of 93.8-6000 pg/ml. Mean recovery (n=5) was 91% for serum (range 80%-102%), 90% for EDTA plasma (range 81%-100%), and 84% for heparin plasma (range 80%-89%). Precision data are reported for serial dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 across the three sample types; for example, at 1:2 dilution recoveries spanned 87-91% in serum, 90-105% in EDTA plasma, and 84-95% in heparin plasma.
