A sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (sELISA) supplied by Antibodies.com for the in vitro quantitative determination of human Interferon beta. It is intended for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates or other biological fluids, and employs a pre-coated 96-well microplate arranged as 12 x 8 well strips.

Standards and test samples are added to the wells, where Interferon beta is captured by the immobilised antibody. After washing, a biotinylated anti-Interferon beta antibody binds the captured analyte; HRP-Avidin is then added, followed by TMB substrate. The colour changes from blue to yellow on addition of acidic stop solution and is read at 450 nm, with the Interferon beta concentration calculated from the standard curve. The standard curve range is 7.81–500 pg/ml with a sensitivity of <3.46 pg/ml, and the total assay time is 4 h 30 min.

Spike-and-recovery has been reported as 80–102% (mean 91%, n=5) in serum, 81–100% (mean 90%, n=5) in EDTA plasma and 80–89% (mean 84%, n=5) in heparin plasma. Serial dilution behaviour has been characterised at 1:2 to 1:16 (n=5) in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma, with values generally between 74% and 108%. Components are supplied for storage at +4°C or –20°C as indicated, and the kit must not be used past its expiry date.
