Human Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein ELISA Kit

From Antibodies.com, this sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (sELISA) is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of human Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP). It is suitable for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids.

The assay uses a pre-coated 96-well microplate arranged as 12 x 8 well strips, with a capture antibody specific for GFAP immobilised on the plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells, where GFAP binds to the immobilised antibody. After washing, a biotinylated anti-GFAP detection antibody is added, followed by an HRP-Avidin conjugate and TMB substrate to visualise the enzymatic reaction. The resulting colour change is read at 450 nm on a colorimetric microplate reader and the GFAP concentration is calculated by reference to the standard curve.

The kit offers a product range of 0.312-20 ng/ml, a sensitivity of 0.134 ng/ml and a total assay time of 4h 30m. Kit components should be stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed and not used past the expiration date. Recovery has been demonstrated in serum (80-102%, average 91%, n=5), EDTA plasma (81-100%, average 90%, n=5) and heparin plasma (80-89%, average 84%, n=5).
