Human Fatty Acid Desaturase 2 ELISA Kit

A sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (sELISA) supplied by Antibodies.com for the in vitro quantitative determination of human Fatty Acid Desaturase 2 (FADS2) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. Standards and samples are added to a 96-well microtiter plate (12 x 8 well strips) pre-coated with an antibody specific for FADS2, and absorbance is read at 450 nm on a colorimetric microplate reader.

Sensitivity is <28 pg/ml and the assay range is 78.1–5000 pg/ml, with a total assay time of 4 hours 30 minutes. Recovery was validated in serum (n=5, range 80%–102%, average 91%), EDTA plasma (n=5, range 81%–100%, average 90%) and heparin plasma (n=5, range 80%–89%, average 84%), with linearity demonstrated across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions. A minimum 1:2 dilution in the supplied Sample Dilution Buffer is recommended. Supplied components include pre-coated microplate strips, lyophilized standard, Detection Solution A and B, 30X wash buffer, sample dilution buffer, TMB substrate, stop solution and plate sealers, stored at +4°C or −20°C as instructed.

Captured FADS2 is detected using a biotinylated anti-FADS2 antibody, an HRP-avidin conjugate and TMB substrate; the resulting yellow product is proportional to the FADS2 concentration in each well and is quantified against the standard curve.
