The Antibodies.com Human Bradykinin ELISA Kit uses a competitive immunoassay format well suited to bradykinin's nine-amino-acid structure, since a peptide this small rarely presents two non-overlapping epitopes for a sandwich capture approach. Bradykinin (Arg-Pro-Pro-Gly-Phe-Ser-Pro-Phe-Arg) is a short-lived vasoactive kinin produced through the kallikrein-kinin cascade, and quantitative measurement supports research into inflammation, pain signaling, blood pressure regulation, hereditary angioedema, and ACE inhibitor-induced angioedema. The kit is supplied as a 96T microplate with pre-coated wells, lyophilized peptide standards, detection antibody, and substrate. Because circulating bradykinin is degraded within seconds by kininases such as ACE and neprilysin, plasma and urine samples are best collected into chilled tubes containing aprotinin or other peptidase inhibitors, then snap-frozen and held at -80 °C until the assay. Each 96T plate provides enough reagents for the full plate layout, including a standard curve run in duplicate for accurate quantitation across physiological and pathophysiological concentrations.
