This sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (sELISA) from Antibodies.com is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of human Biliverdin Reductase A (BVR) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates or other biological fluids. The kit employs a 96-well microplate pre-coated with an antibody specific for BVR. Standards and samples are added to the wells and BVR is captured by the immobilised antibody; following incubation and washing, a Biotinylated Anti-BVR Antibody is added, followed by an HRP-Avidin conjugate. TMB substrate is then used to visualise the enzymatic reaction, producing a blue product that turns yellow upon addition of acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the amount of BVR captured, and the concentration is calculated by reading absorbance at 450 nm in a microplate reader and referring to the standard curve.

The assay has a reported range of 0.625-40 ng/ml and a sensitivity of 0.282 ng/ml, with an assay time of 4h 30m. Reported recovery data are serum 80%-102% (average 91%, n=5), EDTA plasma 81%-100% (average 90%, n=5), and heparin plasma 80%-89% (average 84%, n=5). Dilution linearity is also reported for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16. The kit is suitable for serum, plasma and tissue homogenates, and kit components are stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed, with the standard supplied in lyophilised form.
