Human Alpha-Lactalbumin ELISA Kit

From Antibodies.com, this sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (sELISA) is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of human alpha Lactalbumin in breast milk or other biological fluids. The assay uses a pre-coated microplate with an antibody specific for alpha Lactalbumin, followed by a biotinylated anti-alpha Lactalbumin detection antibody and an HRP-Avidin conjugate. TMB substrate is used to visualise the HRP enzymatic reaction, producing a blue-coloured product that changes to yellow after addition of an acidic stop solution; the density of yellow is proportional to the amount of alpha Lactalbumin captured. The concentration is calculated by reading the absorbance at 450 nm in a microplate reader and referring to a standard curve.

The kit reports an assay range of 6.25-400 pg/ml and a sensitivity of 2.58 pg/ml, with a total assay time of 4h 30m. Reported recovery performance in serum averages 91% (range 80%-102%, n=5), in EDTA plasma 90% (range 81%-100%, n=5), and in heparin plasma 84% (range 80%-89%, n=5). Linearity is reported across sample dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 for the same sample types.
