Human Alpha-Fetoprotein ELISA Kit

A sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (sELISA) from Antibodies.com for the in vitro quantitative determination of human alpha-1 fetoprotein in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit is intended for use with a colorimetric microplate reader, with absorbance read at 450 nm.

The assay uses a 96-well pre-coated microplate arranged as 12 x 8 well strips. Standards and samples are added to wells coated with an antibody specific for alpha-1 fetoprotein, and captured analyte is detected using a Biotinylated Anti-alpha-1 Fetoprotein Antibody followed by an HRP-Avidin conjugate. TMB substrate is used for visualisation, producing a yellow colour whose intensity is proportional to the amount of alpha-1 fetoprotein present in each well. The stated product range is 5–200 IU/ml with a sensitivity of 3 IU/ml, and the total assay time is 4 hours 30 minutes. Kit components should be stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed and not used past the stated expiration date.

Recovery has been reported across serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma samples at averages of 91%, 90% and 84% respectively, with linearity demonstrated at sample dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 across the same sample types.
