Human Adrenocorticotropic Hormone ELISA Kit

This competitive Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (cELISA) kit from Antibodies.com is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of human Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH) in serum, plasma and other biological fluids. The assay uses a 96-well microtiter plate pre-coated with ACTH antigen, where ACTH present in samples or standards competes with the immobilized antigen for binding sites on a biotinylated anti-ACTH antibody. Unbound antibody is removed by washing before an HRP-avidin conjugate is added. A TMB substrate solution is then used to visualize the enzymatic reaction, producing a blue product that becomes yellow after addition of the acidic stop solution.

Absorbance is read at 450 nm on a colorimetric microplate reader and is inversely proportional to the amount of ACTH captured in each well. The assay reports a sensitivity of <5.24 pg/ml and an assay range of 15.6-1000 pg/ml, with a total run time of 2 hours 30 minutes. Recovery in serum samples (n=5) ranged from 80% to 102% with an average of 91%. Kit components should be stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed, and the product is intended for research use only.
