Manufactured under the Antibodies.com brand, this sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of human 5-Hydroxytryptamine Receptor 1A (5-HT1A) in tissue homogenates or other biological fluids. The assay employs an antibody specific to the 5-HT1A receptor pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are added to the wells, captured 5-HT1A is bound by a biotinylated anti-5-HT1A detection antibody, and an HRP-avidin conjugate combined with TMB substrate produces a colourmetric signal read at 450 nm.

The kit has a sensitivity of 0.059 ng/ml and an assay range of 0.156–10 ng/ml, with a total assay time of 4 h 30 min. Kit components are stored at +4°C or −20°C as instructed, and the assay is intended for use with tissue homogenates or comparable biological fluids.

Spike-and-recovery testing (n=5) gave average recoveries of 91% in serum (range 83–100%), 96% in EDTA plasma (range 90–103%) and 95% in heparin plasma (range 89–102%). Dilution linearity was demonstrated at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16, with serum recoveries of 83–110%, 79–100%, 90–98% and 82–108%; EDTA plasma recoveries of 90–98%, 90–105%, 73–109% and 87–91%; and heparin plasma recoveries of 88–103%, 77–105%, 95–98% and 87–110%.
