From Antibodies.com, this sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (sELISA) is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of guinea pig Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha (TNF alpha) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The procedure uses a pre-coated 96-well microplate (12 x 8 well strips) with biotinylated anti-TNF alpha antibody and HRP-avidin detection, and is read at 450 nm on a colorimetric microplate reader after TMB substrate development.

Total assay time is 4 hours 30 minutes, with a product range of 15.6–1000 pg/ml and a stated sensitivity of <5.5 pg/ml. Validation data report recovery averages of 91% for serum, 90% for EDTA plasma and 84% for heparin plasma, with linearity assessed at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16.
