Goat Interleukin 18 ELISA Kit

From Antibodies.com, this Sandwich ELISA kit enables the in vitro quantitative determination of goat Interleukin 18 (IL-18) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates or other biological fluids. The assay uses a pre-coated 96-well microplate arranged as 12 x 8 well strips and is read on a colorimetric microplate reader.

The test employs the sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique: an antibody specific for IL-18 is immobilised on the plate, standards and samples are added, and bound IL-18 is detected with a Biotinylated Anti-IL-18 Antibody followed by an HRP-Avidin conjugate. The enzymatic reaction is visualised with TMB substrate, producing a blue colour that changes to yellow upon addition of acidic stop solution; absorbance is read at 450 nm and the IL-18 concentration is calculated by reference to a standard curve. Total assay time is 4h 30m, and kit components should be stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed.

Performance characteristics quoted by the manufacturer include a sensitivity of 6.3 pg/ml and a product range of 15.6–1000 pg/ml. Reported average spike-and-recovery (n=5) is 91% for serum (range 80%–102%), 90% for EDTA plasma (range 81%–100%) and 84% for heparin plasma (range 80%–89%).
