QIAGEN supplies this accessory as an ultra‑pure glycogen carrier to improve the recovery and visibility of low‑concentration nucleic acid pellets during ethanol or isopropanol precipitation. The Puregene Handbook recommends the Glycogen Solution alongside user‑supplied reagents for protocols involving compromised blood samples and other preparations expected to give low yields. The handbook specifies that the Glycogen Solution must be refrigerated or frozen at the temperature indicated on the product label, while other Puregene kit reagents can be stored at room temperature (15–25°C).
