General Serum Albumin ELISA Kit

A competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (cELISA) for the in vitro quantitative determination of serum albumin in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants or other biological fluids. The Antibodies.com General Serum Albumin ELISA Kit uses a pre-coated 96-well microplate (12 x 8 well strips) in which serum albumin in samples or standards competes with immobilized antigen for binding sites on a biotinylated anti-serum albumin antibody. Detection employs an HRP-Avidin conjugate with TMB substrate, read at 450 nm in a colorimetric microplate reader; the density of yellow colour is inversely proportional to the serum albumin concentration and is quantified against a standard curve.

The assay has a reported product range of 7.81–500 µg/ml, a sensitivity of <0.05 µg/ml, and a total run time of 2h 30m. Average recovery reported by the manufacturer is 91% for serum (range 80–102%), 90% for EDTA plasma (range 81–100%), and 84% for heparin plasma (range 80–89%). Kit components include a pre-coated microplate, lyophilized standard, detection solutions, wash buffer, sample dilution buffer, TMB substrate, stop solution, and plate sealers, intended for storage at +4°C or –20°C as instructed.
