General Prostaglandin F2 Alpha ELISA Kit

Antibodies.com supplies a competitive Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (cELISA) intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of Prostaglandin F2 alpha in serum, plasma or other biological fluids, with reactivity described as Universal. Detection is colourimetric, performed on a colorimetric microplate reader measuring absorbance at 450 nm, and the platform is a pre-coated microplate of 12 x 8 well strips with a stated assay time of 2 h 30 min.

The assay uses the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtitre plate is pre-coated with Prostaglandin F2 alpha antigen, and Prostaglandin F2 alpha in samples or standards competes with the immobilised antigen for binding sites on a biotinylated anti-Prostaglandin F2 alpha antibody. After washing to remove unbound antibody, an HRP-avidin conjugate is added; TMB substrate is then used to visualise the reaction, producing a blue colour that changes to yellow upon addition of acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is inversely proportional to the amount of Prostaglandin F2 alpha in each sample or standard, and concentration is calculated by reference to a standard curve.

Sensitivity is reported as 11.67 pg/ml and the assay range as 31.2-2000 pg/ml. Sample recovery has been characterised in serum (n=5, average 91%, range 83%-100%), EDTA plasma (n=5, average 96%, range 90%-103%) and heparin plasma (n=5, average 94%, range 90%-99%).
