Colourimetric detection is performed using a microplate reader at 450 nm, following incubation with an HRP-Avidin conjugate and TMB substrate. The stated assay range is 78.1-5000 pg/ml with a sensitivity of <33.5 pg/ml, and the total assay time is 2h 30m. Sample recovery has been validated in serum (86-100%, average 93%), EDTA plasma (87-101%, average 94%) and heparin plasma (88-100%, average 94%), with dilution linearity demonstrated across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions in serum (82-101%), EDTA plasma (80-102%) and heparin plasma (79-104%).

Kit components include a pre-coated 96-well microplate, two vials of lyophilised standard, Detection Solution A (70 μl), Detection Solution B (120 μl), 30X Wash Buffer (20 ml), Sample Dilution Buffer (45 ml), TMB Substrate (9 ml), Stop Solution (6 ml) and five adhesive plate sealers. Components are stored at either +4°C or -20°C as specified in the instructions.
