General Homovanillic Acid ELISA Kit

From Antibodies.com, this competitive Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (cELISA) is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of Homovanillic Acid in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates or other biological fluids. The kit runs on a pre-coated microplate arranged as 12 x 8 well strips, with stated reactivity described as Universal/General.

The assay uses a competitive enzyme immunoassay format in which Homovanillic Acid in samples or standards competes with the immobilized plate-bound antigen for binding sites on a Biotinylated Anti-Homovanillic Acid Antibody. After washing to clear unbound antibody, an HRP-Avidin conjugate is added and incubated. A TMB substrate is then applied, producing a blue colour that turns yellow upon addition of acidic stop solution; the intensity of the yellow colour is inversely proportional to the Homovanillic Acid concentration. Quantification is performed by reading absorbance at 450 nm on a colorimetric microplate reader. Total assay time is 2h 30m, and components are stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed.

The product range is 0.781-50 ng/ml with a sensitivity of <0.337 ng/ml. Recovery testing was carried out on serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at sample dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 (n=5 per matrix). Reported averages were 91% for serum (range 80%-102%), 90% for EDTA plasma (range 81%-100%) and 84% for heparin plasma (range 80%-89%).
