General Carnosine ELISA Kit

A competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay from Antibodies.com is intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of Carnosine in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates or other biological fluids. The assay uses a pre-coated 96-well microplate (12 x 8 well strips), and absorbance is read at 450 nm with a colorimetric microplate reader. The standard curve covers a product range of 15.6–1000 ng/ml, with a sensitivity of 5.17 ng/ml, and the full assay is completed in 2 hours 30 minutes.

Detection relies on a Biotinylated Anti-Carnosine Antibody and an HRP-Avidin conjugate, with TMB substrate producing a yellow colour whose intensity is inversely proportional to Carnosine concentration. Recovery ranges reported by the manufacturer for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma include 80%–102% (average 91%), 81%–100% (average 90%) and 80%–89% (average 84%); at 1:2 dilution serum recoveries fall within 87%–91%, with EDTA plasma at 90%–105% and heparin plasma at 84%–95%. Kit reagents include a pre-coated microplate, lyophilised standard, detection solutions A and B, wash buffer, sample dilution buffer, TMB substrate, stop solution and plate sealers, stored at +4°C or -20°C as indicated.
