General Arachidonic Acid ELISA Kit

From Antibodies.com, this competitive Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (cELISA) is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of Arachidonic Acid in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates or other biological fluids. The assay is read on a microplate reader by O.D. measurement at 450nm against a standard curve, with the analyte concentration calculated from the inverse relationship between colour intensity and target amount.

The microplate is pre-coated with Arachidonic Acid antigen. During incubation, Arachidonic Acid in samples or standards competes with the immobilised antigen for binding to a Biotinylated Anti-Arachidonic Acid Antibody; the more analyte present, the less antibody binds. After washing, an HRP-Avidin conjugate is added, followed by TMB substrate solution, producing a blue product that turns yellow upon addition of stop solution. Kit components are stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed and should not be used past the indicated expiration date.

Reported sensitivity is <1.96ug/ml, with a measuring range of 4.68-300ug/ml and a total assay time of 2h 30m. Mean recoveries (n=5) are stated as 91% for serum (range 80%-102%), 90% for EDTA plasma (range 81%-99%) and 84% for heparin plasma (range 80%-89%).
