Description

From Antibodies.com, this Androstenediol ELISA Kit is a competitive Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (cELISA) designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of Androstenediol in serum, plasma, or other biological fluids. The assay employs the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique on a pre-coated microplate and is read on a colorimetric microplate reader at 450 nm. During incubation, Androstenediol in samples or standards competes with immobilized antigen for binding sites on a Biotinylated Anti-Androstenediol Antibody. After washing, an HRP-Avidin conjugate is added, and TMB substrate is used to visualize the reaction. The resulting blue colour shifts to yellow upon addition of acidic stop solution, with the intensity of yellow inversely proportional to the Androstenediol concentration.

The kit reports a sensitivity of 0.23 ng/ml and an assay range of 0.625–40 ng/ml. It is configured as a competitive (quantitative), colourimetric assay with an assay time of 2h 30m. Kit components should be stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed and not used past the expiration date. The protocol is described as easy to follow.

Validation data report average recovery values of 91% for serum (range 80–102%), 90% for EDTA plasma (range 81–100%), and 84% for heparin plasma (range 80–89%) across five samples per matrix. Dilution linearity testing at ratios of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 provides further recovery ranges for each sample type as documented in the product specifications.
